About the course
Associate Professor Mei Lai (University of Auckland) and Perry Rush (Programme Director Educational Leadership at Tui Tuia | Learning Circle) will lead PLD focused on school-wide assessment capability and data literacy for leadership teams.
This opportunity starts in Term 3, 2024 and concludes at the end of Term 2, 2025.
We can tailor delivery of this PLD to suit your school’s needs. Choose from:
- Auckland based in-person : Face-to-face workshops and seminar series.
- Distance and New Zealand-wide - Online workshops and seminar series available to all schools across New Zealand.
Participating schools will gain:
◾ Ability to set-up or evaluate your school-wide assessment system with rigour
◾ School-wide assessment plans and tools that are reliable and valid in their assessment design and conditions
◾ Knowledge of standardised assessments - the pros, cons, limitations and opportunities
◾ Understanding what constitutes progress and acceleration and how best to assess these
◾ Support with design of appropriate test conditions
◾ Exploration of the role of Standards and Benchmarking
◾ Understanding Summative and Formative Assessment
◾ Support with linking Assessment purpose to Curriculum goals
◾ Knowledge on how to use data insights to make change
◾ Understanding of the role of evaluation and driving for improved outcomes for students
This priority is aligned with the Ministry of Education’s new RA-PLD priorities, and the intent of the Minister to have a data-literate and evidence-based workforce.
