Tū Rangatira

Overview

Tū Rangatira is a framework for kura leaders that encourages tumuaki and kaiako in Māori medium education to be visionary and inspirational inside a Māori world view. It identifies a variety of leadership roles that focus on Māori potential within kaiako with distinctive features that reflect fundamental Māori principles.

Motivated by the regeneration of Māori language, culture and organisational commitment, Tū Rangatira: Māori Medium Educational Leadership programme was developed. It is a framework for kura leaders that encourages tumuaki and kaiako in Māori medium education to be visionary and inspirational inside a Māori world view. It identifies a variety of leadership roles that focus on Māori potential within kaiako with distinctive features that reflect fundamental Māori principles.

Sharron has facilitated professional learning and development in English and Māori-medium primary and secondary schools with leaders, teachers and whānau. She specialises in Te Reo Māori, culturally responsive and relational pedagogy as well as student learning and achievement, in particular for Māori learners. Sharron works in the Ahuriri and Heretaunga regions.

Rewa is an experienced Te Reo Māori PLD facilitator (English medium) supporting primary and secondary teachers to plan and deliver quality te reo Māori programmes. Rewa has expertise in second language acquisition, formative and summative assessment practices, NCEA and culturally sustaining pedagogy.

Bruce is an accredited Māori Medium Facilitator and specialises in Pāngarau. He works with Pāngarau planning/programmes in TKKM, rumaki reo, reo rua and mainstream kura, as well as delivery of Pāngarau programmes to whole class and small groups, student data analysis, and design and delivery of accelerated learning activities.

We have expert facilitators in these areas who can help create a tailored professional development plan to meet the unique needs of your school or kura.
