Overview

'GGL™ Leading from the Middle’ strengthens leadership practice by bringing rich, relevant theory into the practical and pragmatic world of middle leaders. It avoids simplistic answers, and respects this demanding and dynamic leadership position. GGL™ LfM is specifically designed for middle leaders with a direct responsibility for a team of teachers.

What we will cover

You will work with others as you critically engage with contemporary research, professional networks, resources and strategies. The engaging learning activities offered will help you:  

  • Understand your role as a middle leader  
  • Build and maintain an effective team  
  • Cultivate relational trust through your day-to-day actions  
  • Lead improvement using a three-phase, inquiry-based improvement model.
Structure

This course will be delivered as a blend of two face-to-face full-day workshops and one online professional learning session.

Over two full days, you will work with others as you explore:  

  • The unique demands of middle leadership
  • The influence of relational trust on your leadership and team/faculty effectiveness  
  • Practical strategies for building high levels of trust with all stakeholders  
  • A research-informed approach to running efficient, effective, and engaging meetings  
  • Notions of change and improvement, and why effective leadership requires a focus on the latter  
     

The content of the online professional learning group discussion is guided by the group’s leadership priorities and challenges.
