Martin Turner

Programme Manager/Facilitator

Martin is a Programme Manager for our Tui Tuia | Learning Circle Reading Recovery and Accelerated Learning in Literacy contracts with the Ministry of Education, delivering professional learning and development to schools in the Northern and Central South Ministry regions. 

After working for 11 years as a primary school principal, he joined the University of Auckland as a Principal’s Leadership and Management Adviser.  He was also Team Leader for the University’s Ministry funded Leadership and Assessment contract.

Martin brings a wide knowledge of the education sector through past experience in school leadership and Assessment for Learning, and curriculum contracts and has been a lead mentor for the University of Auckland’s First Time Principals programme.

He also has experience in change leadership, developing collaborative expertise and the evaluative capability of leaders and teachers to become more effective in accelerating student learning and achieving equitable student outcomes. Martin has a specific interest in professional learning that promotes culturally sustaining pedagogies that ensure Māori achieve educational success as Māori.
