Overview

This course aims to support Primary and Intermediate teachers in effectively teaching additional languages and enhancing students' understanding of languages and cultures.

About the course

Course information

This course is relevant to Primary and Intermediate teachers who are currently teaching or plan to teach additional languages in their classroom. It is delivered through two full day face-to-face workshops and four online workshops. Participants will also be supported by a digital learning platform for on-going inquiry and reflection.

Workshop 1 (online)

Introduction to the course, the digital learning platform, meet and share contexts, PGC requirements

Wednesday 13th March 2024, 4:00pm-5.30pm

Workshop 2 (full day face-to-face)

Basic pedagogical framework for Language teaching.

Strategies for developing learners Listening and Speaking skills highlighting the relationship between language and culture.

Thursday 4th April 2024, 9:00am-3:00pm

Workshop 3 (online)

Enhancing global citizenship in additional language learning

Tuesday 21st May 2024, 4:00pm-5:30pm

Workshop 4 (full day face-to-face)

Build on pedagogical framework for Language teaching

Strategies for developing learners Reading and Writing skills highlighting the relationship between language and culture.

Integrate cross-curricular inclusion into your language and culture learning approach

Cost

At no cost for NZ registered teachers.

Selected participants will be advised of the location once registrations have closed. Tui Tuia | Learning Circle - Languages will pay for associated travel for teachers who are outside of the city of delivery for face-to-face workshop(s) or provide delivery online where appropriate.  

Upon completion of the programme, your school can claim back the cost of two Teacher Release Days.
