Location

This course is available online for unlimited numbers nationwide. It is also offered in person in Auckland and Northland regions.


Cost

In person $350 per person (GST inclusive)

Online $250 per person (GST inclusive)

What we will cover

By using talk, educators can build independent learners, promote thinking, and enable classroom interactions to enhance student vocabulary development. The course also focuses on encouraging questioning in students to build learning conversations. Understanding the importance of using language, identity and culture helps Teacher Aides to be responsive to the unique needs of ākonga.

The course will help you identify some strategies for using quality talk with students to promote their thinking and learning. By understanding the significance of quality talk with students, you will be able to make a difference in students learning and development.

 

This course builds your capability in the following Teacher Aide Competency areas:

  • Communication: Understand and support language development.
  • Learning support: Support individuals and small groups with learning.
