About the course

Course information
What we will cover

For students with heritage connections, bridging their Pacific heritage languages and German validates their identity and cultural heritage, fostering a positive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and inclusivity. Learning becomes more meaningful when students see direct connections to their lives. This connection to both Pacific heritage languages and German taps into their personal histories and family stories, motivating excellence in their language learning journeys. Pacific heritage languages come with rich cultural traditions, stories, and values. Exploring these connections offers insights into the historical and social ties between these heritage languages and German-speaking and Pacific communities, fostering cultural understanding and empathy – crucial skills in today's interconnected world.

Incorporating Pacific heritage languages into the German language classroom transforms language learning into a holistic cultural and cognitive experience, equipping students with unique skills and perspectives that enrich their lives, both inside and outside the classroom
