Dr Tanya Wendt Samu

Tanya is a senior lecturer in the School of Critical Studies in Education, Faculty of Education & Social Work, University of Auckland. She contributes to under-graduate and graduate courses in initial teacher education focusing on the education and well-being of Pacific/ Pasifika peoples, and diversity in education. Additionally, she teaches postgraduate courses in Pacific education and research, and supervises postgraduate and doctoral theses in Pacific education.

Tanya currently serves as one of the academic navigators for Tui Tuia ki Tapasā. This is a PLD programme she helped to design, to support teachers in centres and schools, engage with the MOE’s Tapasā: Cultural competences for teachers of Pacific learners.

Dr Alexis Siteine

Alexis is a senior lecturer at the UoA’s School of Critical Studies in Education within the Faculty of Education. She serves as the Director of courses in Initial Teacher Education, Education Studies, and Postgraduate Studies. Additionally, she oversees doctoral and master's theses and directs the Master of Education in Curriculum Studies programme.

With a background as a primary teacher, Alexis has dedicated several decades to working with Pacific educators and students in Aotearoa New Zealand. Her scholarly interests focus on how education can foster equitable outcomes and provide transformational knowledge for students with Pacific heritages. Moreover, she has actively contributed to curriculum development in Pacific Island nations.
