60th Anniversary of Samoan Independence

Celebrations were held accross New Zealand in June to mark the 60th Anniversary of Samoan Independence. I was lucky enough to experience these celebrations with my extended Samoan family in Dunedin, watching my cousin's daughter perform Siva Samoa with her church group. It was a chance for those with Samoan heritage and those with an interest in Samoan language and culture to come together and celebrate this occasion over dance, food and speeches. To read more about this event click here to view an article from the newspaper Otago Daily Times.
