These are unique professional development opportunities, with great and lasting effects upon teacher capability, student achievement and the success of Learning Languages in New Zealand schools.

For teachers of Japanese wishing to develop through an immersion experience, in conjunction with overseas Japanese language associations and governments.

Japan Foundation Sydney Seminar

Future Learning Solutions - Centre for Languages, in partnership with the Japan Foundation, offers places for New Zealand teachers and pre-service teachers to attend this three-and-a-half-day professional development programme held at the Japan Foundation's Language Centre in Sydney.  *NOTE: This programme is not being offered to NZ teachers during 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and border restrictions.

New Zealand Japanese Exchange Programme (NZJEP)

The New Zealand Japan Exchange Programme (NZJEP) was jointly established by the New Zealand and Japanese Governments in the early seventies to create a deeper understanding between the two countries on a broad educational and cultural basis. The programme funds a broad range of educational and cultural projects in the form of visits to New Zealand or Japan by educationalists or artists and the interchange of educational and cultural material through festivals, exhibitions, performances and conferences. Thus enabling relations between the countries to flourish.
