2021 Immersion Weekends

Overview

If you would like to spend a weekend away in the company of fellow language teachers, using the target language and enjoying what is on offer in some of NZ’s favourite get-away spots, then we invite you to apply for our 2021 Immersion Weekends. We will be offering two weekends - the first, on the South Island, is in Akaroa , and the second, on the North Island, is in Matamata.  The Akaroa weekend is designed for teachers of French and German, and the Matamata weekend is for teachers of all other languages.

From Friday evening to Sunday midday, we will have a mixture of target language activities, local sightseeing and time to relax and enjoy the company of other teachers.

Languages offered:

Akaroa: French and German.

Matamata: Chinese, Japanese, Samoan, Spanish, Korean and Tongan.

Cost

No cost for the weekend.  Catering and accomodation will be provided.  For those travelling by car to the event, FLS will assist with mileage reimbursement (when the driving distance is more than 80km).  For those requiring flights and transfers, FLS Centre for Languages will arrange and pay for these once your registration has been received and confirmed. PLEASE NOTE: Rooms will be booked on a twin-share basis.

Application Deadline

Friday 10th September 2021.

Additional Information

Health & Safety:  We will comply with government alert levels and recommendations.

These immersion weekends will only go ahead, on these dates, if New Zealand is in Alert Level 1 or below.
